On Wednesday 19th November, we were delighted to welcome Rail Minister Lord Hendy to Cambridge station to support the launch of our You Said, We Did report and hear more about our exciting plans for the city and the region.
Lord Hendy was greeted on the platform by our CEO David Hughes and members of the EWR team before touring the station to see where the new eastern entrance could be located – an addition to our plans shaped by public feedback. We also discussed proposals for a new station at Cambridge East and plans for four new and improved stations on the Marston Vale Line, including a new station at Stewartby to serve the Universal theme park.

After chatting to the media, the Minister then met key stakeholders, including Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Mayor Paul Bristow, and representatives from Cambridge City and Cambridgeshire County Council, to explore the latest design updates featured in the You Said, We Did report.

It was encouraging to see strong cross-party support at local, regional, and national levels for the opportunities East West Rail and other developments will bring to Cambridge and the wider region. Working together to maximise these benefits will help unlock economic growth and improve connectivity for communities across Cambridge and beyond.
