The Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, has today announced Government funding to support the construction of a new eastern entrance at Bletchley station which will be delivered as part of the East West Rail project.

Speaking at the Scientific Superpower Conference, the Chancellor confirmed that funding from the Growth Mission Fund will be used to deliver the new entrance which will create a direct gateway between the station and Bletchley town centre. The new entrance will improve access for passengers, strengthen links with local businesses and services and help to regenerate the town centre.

The funding comes on top of a commitment of up to £5 million in funding for the new entrance from Milton Keynes City Council.

We have been working closely with the local council, and Callum Anderson MP to help bring forward this transformative investment in Bletchley.

In our You Said, We Did Autumn Update, we announced plans for a new eastern entrance at Bletchley station, but this was subject to third-party funding.

Delivery of the eastern entrance is subject to final Government clearances and approval of a full delivery and construction schedule. We will now be working at pace with the Department for Transport and co-ordinating with local partners to unlock benefits in Bletchley at the earliest opportunity.

Welcoming the announcement, East West Railway Company Chief Executive, David Hughes, said: “We’re really pleased to see that funding has now been confirmed to allow the construction of the new eastern entrance at Bletchley station. This will provide a vital, direct connection between the railway and Bletchley town centre, making journeys easier, more accessible and better integrated with local businesses and services. This investment underlines our commitment to working with partners to ensure East West Rail delivers lasting benefits for passengers and communities along the route.”
