East West Railway Company (EWR Co.) is delighted to announce the appointment of Jonathan Clear as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective January.
Jonathan joins EWR Co. from Building Digital UK (BDUK), where he currently leads the Finance and Operations functions.
He joined BDUK in June 2023, bringing a wealth of leadership experience from across several government departments, including the Department for Work and Pensions, and the Department for Education where he served as Finance Director and was a member of both the Departmental Board and Executive. He is also a non-executive board member of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation.
Taking over from interim Finance Director Ian Davis, Jonathan will play a key role in steering EWR Co. through the next phase of the project as it moves towards a Development Consent Order (DCO).

Ian Davis will continue in his role as interim Finance Director until Jonathan’s arrival, ensuring a smooth transition.
Sam Turner was EWR Co’s previous full-time CFO who is now Group Finance Director at Network Rail. She was on secondment from Network Rail and has now returned there as Group Finance Director.
