As part of preparatory works for East West Rail, which will transform connectivity on the Marston Vale Line, a road closure is being put in place on a section of Bury Ware.
When:
From 8am on Monday, October 5 to 5pm on Friday, October 16.
Where:
The closure will be in effect for a section of Bury Ware, north of Boughton End Lane. Access to the Bury Ware bridle path will remain and all properties will have access maintained throughout via the diversionary route.
What is happening:
The carriageway is being widened to create a passing bay and allow the safe movement of larger vehicles. Construction of the passing bay will involve the removal of some roadside vegetation and a small number of trees depending on the extent of their roots. All works are taking place within the existing highways boundary.
Why:
Bury Ware is the nominated route for construction traffic accessing Marston Road for the delivery of a new railway bridge. In advance of the overbridge works, a passing bay is being installed to ensure construction vehicles can reach the site safely while reducing disruption for other road users.
Once completed, the new overbridge will maintain road connectivity in Lidlington following the closure of the existing level crossing on Marston Road. Closing this level crossing is necessary to support the safe operation of services when the full East West Rail timetable is introduced. Construction of the bridge starting next year will ensure it is completed before the closure of the level crossing.
To complete the works safely, a full road closure will be required. A signed diversionary route will be in place for the duration of the closure.
