Getting Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre fit for summer visitors

With temperatures reaching the high 20s this week we can safely say that summer has arrived – and Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre on the Marston Vale Line is preparing for waves of visitors as more of us get out and about in the warmer weather to explore our local communities.

To help get the station ready for the expected influx of visitors, members of East West Railway Company’s Strategy and Transformation team joined the Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership during Community Rail Week last month.

The team helped to:

  • clear vegetation and weeds in the car park to increase its capacity
  • make it easier for visitors to park by evening out the surface with new pea gravel
  • spruce up the Heritage Centre garden by weeding planters and footpaths

The Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership has arranged a year of celebration for 2022 with a packed programme of events and activities as part of the Marston Vale Line 175th Anniversary Year. You can find out more about planned events by visiting https://www.marstonvalecommunityrail.org.uk/.
