It is home to globally renowned universities, leading life sciences companies and a manufacturing cluster known for high-performance technology and motorsport engineering.

The area, known as the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, has the potential to deliver significant economic prosperity for the benefit of local communities and the country as a whole, creating new opportunities for jobs and skills development.  

By improving travel and connections locally, East West Rail has a significant role in supporting the growth of in the area from Oxford to Cambridge. New connections created by East West Rail will make the area more commutable, opening up new job opportunities for local residents and helping the economy to grow.
