As we enter the final weeks of our third non-statutory consultation, we’re encouraging people, businesses and stakeholders from the communities East West Rail (EWR) would serve to share their views on our latest proposals.
This consultation covers subjects such as level crossings, station locations, how trains are powered on East West Rail and more. So far, we’ve had an excellent response and would encourage people to continue submitting feedback via our feedback form right the way up to the deadline at 11.59pm on 24 January.
This consultation is providing the opportunity for us to consider further feedback as we continue to develop proposals and carry out technical assessments before a statutory consultation.
Come along to an event near you
So far more than 3,000 people have joined us at community events along the route to learn more about our updated proposals which contain revised infrastructure and design plans for the new stretch of railway between Bedford and Cambridge, plus essential railway improvement works to upgrade the existing railway between Oxford and Bedford.
The remaining in-person events are a great opportunity for people to discuss the updated proposals with members of our team and see revised design work.

“I have really enjoyed discussing the benefits of the new rail line with people at the events and hearing their views on it as this exciting project builds momentum with passenger services between Oxford and Bletchley due to start later this year.” - David Hughes, CEO, EWR Co.

The main consultation document can be viewed on our consultation page. This page contains the Consultation Feedback Form, which we encourage people to complete to share their views on the project, alongside other supporting documents. These include a Technical Report, which provides further information about how we have developed our designs; an Environmental Update Report and a Transport Update Report, which contain preliminary information about the likely effects of our proposals, and maps, plans and visualisations, which show the proposed route alignment and features, the land that would be required for the project, and illustrations of what some of the main features of the railway could look like.
