EWR seeks passionate local students for summer internship programme – apply today!
Today we’re excited to announce that in partnership with global solutions provider, Jacobs, we’re seeking brilliant engineering or digital undergraduates to complete 10-week summer placements at East West Railway Company (EWR Co).
The paid internships, which will start in early July 2022, will give the students exceptional quality, hands-on experience of working at the heart of our exciting EWR project. Open to those doing relevant degrees and living or studying between Oxford and Cambridge (Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire), we’re looking for:
- A Digital and Innovation Intern – to support on developing IT solutions for the new railway
- A Civil or Railway Engineer Intern – to work with the team turning ideas into reality
- A Systems Architecture Intern – to work within an interdisciplinary team looking at the whole system that will deliver the new railway
Each intern will be partnered with a mentor who will help them to identify areas of learning and will support them to ensure they leave with a high-quality portfolio. As well as gaining valuable real-world industry experience, the interns will be able to access a range of networks across Jacobs, benefiting from making new contacts and learning from the experiences of others.
The internships are part of our long-term commitment to improve social mobility locally through mentoring and paid internships. This programme of work aims to leave a lasting legacy that increases prosperity and improves wellbeing for local communities between Oxford and Cambridge.

We’re accepting applications from anyone who lives or studies in the areas between Oxford and Cambridge (Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire) and is currently studying for a relevant degree. Ideally, applicants will be happy to work remotely and independently, with the ability to travel to Milton Keynes, London and the area between Oxford and Cambridge as required.
